Leaf basket placement

As it does every year, the municipality places leaf baskets in public areas in the fall. The baskets are placed in those areas of neighborhoods where there are many municipal trees and are exclusively for leaves.

The period during which the hives are placed may vary from site to site. This is because the time when the leaves fall varies for each tree species. The municipality ensures that the leaf boxes are emptied regularly and that the leaf waste is composted by a processing company.

What should not be in the browse bin:

  • GFT (GFT is collected free of charge by Rd4, see Waste Guide)
  • Branches (will be collected free of charge by Rd4, register in advance with Rd4)
  • Grass clippings (can go in GFT container)
  • Garden waste (can go in GFT container)
  • Litter (can go in residual container)

Our tip for a "green city":

  • Use the fallen leaves as compost material or cover plants with them to protect them from frost in winter.

If a leaf basket is full, or in case of vandalism, you can report this to the municipality. You can do this by phone (14 045), by mail(gemeentehuis@kerkrade.nl) or via the Buiten Beter App.
