Plans for two single-family homes on corner Sun Street/Claus Street

For some time now, the Kerkrade municipality has been looking at various options with housing associations to create new housing on the vacant lot at the corner of Zonstraat/Clausstraat.

Previously, the possibility of constructing a building with six apartments on the lot was considered, but this proved to be infeasible. It did turn out to be feasible to build two single-family homes.

A plan for these homes is currently being developed in conjunction with housing corporation Wonen Zuid. This plan is as good as final. In terms of appearance, the two homes will fit in with the rest of the neighborhood and take up about as much space as the corner building that first stood on the lot.

Alderman Tim Weijers (Spatial Planning/Public Space/Wonen): "We are pleased to be able to take the next step together with Wonen Zuid. The neighborhood has been looking at a vacant lot for too long. With the arrival of the new houses there will be a good sight again and it is nice that two families can be housed here."

Schedule start of work

The municipality and Wonen Zuid hope to begin construction work in the first half of 2022.
