Kerkrade City Council has adopted a list of activities that determines in which cases participation in the environmental permit is mandatory. 

Plans where participation is mandatory:

  1. If the activities do not fit within the goals of the environmental plan referred to in Article 2.4 jo 4.1 Ow.
     
  2. If the activities do not fit within the goals of the environmental vision referred to in Article 3.1 Ow.
     
  3. If the activities do not fit within the goals of the program referred to in Article 3.4 Rev.
     
  4. Environment permits, listed in Article 10.24 of the Environment Decree.
     
  5. Energy transition. Generation of (renewable) energy:
    • Wind turbines
    • Solar panel fields (ground-mounted): larger than 50m2( There is an exception for this on business parks).
       
  6. Housing: Building 50 or more homes within urban areas, or 1 or more homes in rural areas.
     
  7. Traffic. Construction of new infrastructure and related buildings, structures and works, such as noise barriers.
     
  8. Public (utility) facilities with an area larger than 25m2 and higher than 3 meters, these are mainly transformer stations.
     
  9. The construction and establishment of social uses, such as schools, care centers and community centers.
     
  10. Solitary structures taller than 8 meters with a major impact on the environment, such as advertising masts.
     
  11. Major area developments and/or restructuring projects, such as Rolduckerveld and D'r Pool.
