Planning reception of Ukrainian refugees on Hammolen road

The new shelter for war refugees from Ukraine will be in operation from Feb. 1, 2024, for up to 2 years. Earlier it was planned to open in November or December. Work will start this year.

A total of 72 housing units will be built on the site to accommodate up to 200 refugees from Ukraine. Work will begin before Christmas to raise a portion of the site. In January, all utilities will be connected to the site and the site will be paved. At the end of January, the housing units will be placed.

Safety and traffic

All trucks bringing soil and materials will be routed via the outer ring road N300 over Hamstraat, Stationsstraat and Hambosweg to Hammolenweg and will also return via that route. This way we avoid major traffic congestion in the street. Furthermore, camera surveillance will be set up from the opening of the shelter to ensure security on the premises.
