Police and municipality strengthen cooperation

For a safe and pleasant city, police and municipal boas (special investigating officers) are increasingly working together.

That cooperation is enshrined in a new enforcement plan. In it, police and municipality agree to conduct joint surveillance, share information, properly coordinate personnel and hold joint briefings. The boas are also connected to the national communication network C2000, so they have direct contact with the police.

Boas watch over livability, public order and safety in the city. They have investigative powers and thus complement the work of the police. By making clear agreements, the police and municipality can act more quickly and forcefully against nuisance and insecurity.

The agreements are consistent with the Integral Security Plan, in which the city council sets priorities every four years. The Local Triangle (mayor, police and Public Prosecutor) determines how police and boas are deployed together. Together, we are taking another step towards a safer and more liveable Kerkrade.
