Award ceremony for zebra action

Have you seen the life-size zebra in the municipality of Kerkrade in recent weeks? The zebra has stood in six different places to draw attention to safe crossing in our municipality. Linked to this action was also a win action. Today the winners of this contest received their prizes.

Alderman Alexander Geers (Traffic and Transportation) congratulates the winners, Marna Bolkenstijn and Frenk Cox. They both won two free tickets to GaiaZOO, sponsored by the zoo.

"The life-size zebra generated a lot of reactions," indicated Alderman Alexander Geers (Traffic and Transportation). "And that was exactly what we were hoping for with this action: more attention to safe crossing. In order to create some awareness among road users and encourage them to pay extra attention to safety at pedestrian crossings."

The contest was about the number of pedestrian crossings in the municipality. There are as many as 123 crosswalks, which contribute to pedestrian safety in our municipality. Want to read more about zebra action locations or road safety. Then go to www.kerkrade.nl/let-op-een-zebrapad
