Disaster or crisis
Municipalities, fire department, police and the GGD work together in the South Limburg Safety Region. An important part of this is crisis communication. In case of a disaster or calamity, the Zuid-Limburg Safety Region's website will tell you what is going on, the latest status and whether you need to do anything yourself to prevent danger.
What should you do if the alarm goes off?
Only when danger is imminent is the public alerted. In the case of unpleasant, pungent or annoying smells, no alarm is sounded as long as there is no danger. The alarm goes off only in areas where it may be dangerous.
- Go inside, wherever you are, and close windows and doors. Turn off ventilation systems.
- put the radio or TV on the disaster channel (L1)
- awaiting information
L1 Radio: 95.3 MHz
L1 TV: channel 23+ (488.00 MHz)
Above all, what should you not do?
- do not call! If the phone lines become overloaded, emergency services will also be unable to communicate with each other
- do not go out or look for family members. The alarm means immediate danger. Trust that children will be taken care of at school or somewhere else.
