Heat Sustainability Monitor (MoVe2030) results.
In January, all households in Kerkrade received a letter asking them to fill out the Sustainable Heat Monitor (MoVe2030) and participate in thinking about natural gas-free living.
The answers are very valuable to us. We are using the results of the monitor in developing Kerkrade's Heat Transition Vision. The results of the questionnaire are now being processed and used as one of the tools we use to see in what order the various districts in Kerkrade can be made natural gas-free.
Results MoVe2030
About 2000 households took the trouble to answer the questions from the monitor, for which many thanks!
Of the respondents, 84% said they were homeowners. The remaining 16% are renters. As many as 96% of all respondents said they are already saving energy. For example, more than half have insulated their homes and almost half also indicate that they use green electricity.
Off the gas
Half of participating households are generally positive to very positive about natural gas-free living. A quarter of the participants say they are neutral about it.
However, when it comes to their own neighborhood and (rental) home that would be made natural gas-free in the short term, these numbers are slightly lower. That leaves 36% of respondents who are positive to very positive, and 19% who are neutral.
Making your own (rental) home more sustainable
When it comes to solutions for getting rid of gas, electric cooking stands out: more than three-quarters of households are positive to very positive about it.
However, three-quarters of households expect that making the home more sustainable will require a lot to a lot of effort. This is mainly due to the high costs they expect.
When asked what would help to (further) make the house more sustainable, the financial picture also plays a role: one third of the respondents indicate that they would like to receive more information about financial resources, one third would like to know how quickly they will earn back the investments, the other respondents indicate that it is important to them that the energy bill does not increase.
Questions about natural gas-free living
The questionnaire also provided an opportunity to ask questions about sustainability, many respondents took advantage of this. We have listed the most frequently asked questions and our answers to them. To do so, go to the page on natural gas-free living.
