Rodaboulevard: Ready for the Future—Improved Accessibility and More Green Space

The municipality of Kerkrade is investing €2 million in a large-scale renovation of the P5 parking lot, which is located next to the Leisuredome on Rodaboulevard. This investment is intended to improve accessibility, traffic safety, and the appearance of Rodaboulevard.

With the opening of a new hotel next to the Leisuredome, parking and traffic congestion on Rodaboulevard will increase further. “Rodaboulevard attracts more than 7 million visitors annually. To continue this success story, it is essential that we continue to invest in a safe, green, and easily accessible environment,” says Alderman Geers (Economic Affairs).

The redevelopment plan focuses not only on improving the functionality of the parking lot, but also on enhancing the quality of the outdoor space. In the paved environment of Rodaboulevard, the site will be landscaped, made more heat-resistant, and designed to be more visually appealing.

The plan was developed in close collaboration with the Rodaboulevard Business Association. Gijs Hilhorst, chairman of the business association, adds: "In collaboration with the municipality, this investment will ensure that Rodaboulevard remains attractive to visitors from both home and abroad and that businesses here can continue to thrive."
