Working together to create a new neighborhood

A new residential program with a varied range of homes is planned for the area between Honeéstraat, Schleidenstraat, Prof. Cobbenhagenstraat, Dir. van de Vennestraat, and O.L. Vrouwestraat. The plan provides for a mix of social housing, mid-range and higher-end rental properties, and affordable owner-occupied homes. A total of 254 social housing units will be demolished in 2027 and 2028.

“With this development, we are not only investing in housing, but also in the quality of the neighborhood. The mix of rental properties and affordable owner-occupied homes is essential in this regard. In this way, we are working to create a pleasant, green, and strong neighborhood where people can truly feel at home,”says Alderman Alexander Geers.

The municipality and HEEMwonen are working together on this. HEEMwonen is responsible for demolishing the existing buildings and constructing the new homes. The municipality is responsible for designing the public space, with a focus on streets, green spaces, and facilities in the neighborhood. Both parties will be working on the details of the new construction plans in the coming period. Residents from the immediate vicinity will also be closely involved in this process.

Construction of the homes is expected to begin in 2028.
