School children ready for dark days
The national "ON in the dark" campaign has started again. As part of this campaign, Alderman Raoul Vinken (mobility) handed out bicycle lights to pupils at IKC Droomhof elementary school. Last week, all elementary school in Kerkrade were provided with bicycle lights for pupils of group 6, 7 and 8. With this action, we want to encourage children to be visible in traffic, especially now that the dark months have started again.
"Lights on bicycles are compulsory and make you really stand out in the dark. With lights on their bikes, children are more visible to other road users. Now that it gets light later and dark earlier, this is extra important. So children can move safely through traffic, on their way to school and back home," says Alderman Vinken.
