Situation around corona remains serious, lockdown extended

The number of infections per day is decreasing and the hospital is also slowly becoming slightly less crowded. But new variants of the coronavirus are rapidly gaining ground in the Netherlands.

This is worrisome because these variants are more contagious and could lead to a new wave of infections. We need to prevent new infections as much as possible now so that hospitals will continue to have room for corona patients and regular Health in the coming months. Therefore, the cabinet has decided to continue the current lockdown. However, elementary schools and daycare centers will reopen starting February 8. In addition, consumers may pick up pre-placed orders, at pre-arranged times, at the store.

More information on the granting of the lockdown and an overview of measures can be found on the Rijksoverheid website.
