Prick Forest playground opens doors with new playground building
Now that the weather is getting warmer, several playgrounds are opening their doors. This includes playground Prickbos. As every year, the playground season is officially opened on the Saturday before Easter. This was last week's Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m.
Neighborhood center d'r Prick becomes playground building
The vacant community center 'D'r Prick' on Pricksteenweg 1a has been taken over by the Playground Prickbos Foundation. Currently, the building is being refurbished so that it can be used for the coming autumn/winter for indoor activities, for example.
Using the empty community center as a playground building will make the public space on D'r Prick more livable and safer. The municipality consulted several times with a representation of local residents. They then recommended putting the empty community center back into use.
More control and supervision at the playground building
By refurbishing the building and using it again, there is more supervision at this location. Also, a piece of the public space on which the building stands has been added to the playground. This includes the skate track. In addition, a fence has been placed around the building. This prevents vandalism and prevents people who do not belong there from accessing the building.
Mayor Dassen and Alderman Bejas attended Saturday's handover of the playground building. Alderman Bejas (District Alderman East): "I am pleased to have been able to accomplish this as outgoing district alderman. The placement of the fence adds the playground building and the skate track to the playground. Because the fence at the skate track is closed at night, there is greater social control and less nuisance."
