Rolduc Sports Hall to be first transit location for Ukrainian refugees as of July 4

In Kerkrade, Sporthal Rolduc on Rolduckerstraat was designated in April as a flow-through location for Ukrainian refugees in South Limburg. Rolduc sports hall will be put into use as the first flow-through location as of July 4.

Ukrainian refugees without a residence address are temporarily accommodated here before being transferred to more structural housing.

Rolduc Sports Hall to be first flow-through location until Oct. 1

Starting July 4, Rolduc Sports Hall will be made available as the first transit location for Ukrainian refugees. Places will be set up for about 200 refugees who will spend one or several nights there while waiting for a place for a longer period of time. Residents and users of Rolduc Sports Hall have been personally informed of the establishment of the transit location. Rolduc Sports Hall will remain in use as a flow-through location until October 1, 2022.

Reception of refugees in Kerkrade

Alderman John Roland on the sports hall as a transit location: "Unfortunately, the war in Ukraine continues, and that means that people continue to flee in search of a safe haven. That concerns us. Besides the structural housing of refugees in Kerkrade, we are now also taking our responsibility in emergency shelter. This demands a lot from our organization, but we do this out of conviction out of our social and human duty."
