Start of new construction in Park West
Commissioned by housing corporation HEEMwonen, work has started on the construction of 24 new life-proof homes at Salviaplein and Papaverplein in Park West in Kerkrade West. The homes should be ready for rental in early 2022.
"A beautiful milestone and the final piece of the whole development of Kerkrade-West (West gains Space). The homes in the park fit in perfectly with the surroundings. As a municipality, we will ensure that the public space also fits into the whole," said Alderman Tim Weijers (Spatial Planning/Public Space/Wonen).
Park homes surrounded by greenery
The new construction project has a special layout: the houses are built in a courtyard and the back gardens border on a (public) park. The plan consists of 24 homes divided into two courtyards surrounded by greenery. The purpose of this concept is to promote mutual involvement. The new homes are gas-free and almost energy-neutral. They will be equipped with good insulation, a heat pump and integrated solar panels on the roof.
A neighborhood in bloom
HEEMwonen, the Municipality of Kerkrade, the City Region of Parkstad Limburg and the Province of Limburg have been working together on the growth of Kerkrade-West (West is gaining space) since 2011. A lot has changed in West in recent years. The sustainable neighborhood "The existing district of Tomorrow in Kaalheide, Park West with playground and 't Westhoes are examples of this.
