Start of greening work on Hoofdstraat
Starting Monday, December 8, 2025, we will begin greening Hoofdstraat in the center of Kerkrade. This work is part of the Center Action Plan, through which we are working together to create a green, attractive, and vibrant city center.
What's going to happen?
First, we will remove part of the paving, benches, and trash cans. Then we will install new green bins, which will be planted immediately. This will be done in consultation with the businesses and residents of Hoofdstraat.
Planning activities
- December 8 and 9: removal of paving and furniture
- December 11: installation of the new green bins
- December 12 to 15: completion of placement and planting
If paving cannot be completed on December 12, we will continue on Monday, December 15. Open areas will be cordoned off safely over the weekend.
Accessibility
Hoofdstraat will be closed to traffic from Monday, December 8, through Friday, December 12. The street will remain accessible to pedestrians, and shops will remain open.
