Renewal of Strijthagen road

We are going to work on Strijthagen Road because the road surface is old. This needs to be replaced. Also, the way the street is laid out could be a lot better.

The trees and shrubs are also old. Therefore, we will also plant new trees.
We choose trees and shrubs that can withstand climate change. So they can last for years. And also so that they provide shade and coolness in the summer. 

The new street in brief

We want to make the roadway narrower. Traffic will still have enough room on the new lane. We will use the space freed up next to the roadway to plant more greenery. The narrower roadway and wider shoulder will also give the new trees more room to grow. We also have more space to build parking spaces. And bike lanes that are separate from the road. We also provide new street lighting.

The municipality has created a design. This shows what the Strijthagenweg will approximately look like after the work. You can view and download the design drawings at the bottom of this page. No rights can be derived from these drawings. The final result may differ from the design. 

When implementing the street, we like to take ideas from local residents. We are therefore organizing a walk-in evening for local residents on June 12. Ideas and questions can also be sent by e-mail to gemeentehuis@kerkrade.nl.
