SUPERLOCAL Neighborhood party of and for Bleijerheide
The SUPERLOCAL Super Circular Estate project has been completed for some time and now that the public space is also ready, it will be officially opened on June 10. Initiators HEEMwonen and Gemeente Kerkrade had a joint ambition in this circular area development. On Saturday, June 10, they will organize a free neighborhood party for all residents of Bleijerheide. The party will take place from 12.00 to 16.00 hours around the site of SUPERLOCAL.

Alderman Tim Weijers (Spatial Planning and Housing): "With the neighborhood party we want to make sure that the neighborhood can get acquainted with this special area development. We are proud of the change SUPERLOCAL has brought to Bleijerheide. SUPERLOCAL thus fits well with the housing offensive in Kerkrade, but is also a leading international circular example project."
Reuse
Materials from two vacant high-rise apartments have been reused to build about 130 new homes and furnish the public area. Most residents have now found their homes here.
Street Market
A street market will be held during the neighborhood festival. Here residents of the Bleijerheide neighborhood can sell items that deserve a second life. Residents can apply for a free stall for this through the website of SUPERLOCAL Applying for a stall can be done until June 2.
Other activities
In addition to the street market, several other activities will be organized. There will be music performances, various children's activities and public art, all while enjoying a snack and a drink. Liesbeth van Beek (director HEEMwonen): "We also want to put the residents of SUPERLOCAL and the directly surrounding streets in the limelight. Therefore we organize a barbecue in the evening to celebrate the official opening together. The residents will receive the invitation in the coming week in the mailbox".
Innovative area development
SUPERLOCAL Super Circular Estate is a unique area development because materials and qualities were reused to build new homes and the public area. This is innovative in the Netherlands and Europe, as evidenced by the €5 million European grant that SUPERLOCAL received.
To experiment with new techniques, a partnership was formed between 12 parties: HEEMwonen, Dusseldorp infra, demolition and environmental technology, Bouwbedrijven Jongen, WML, Waterschapsbedrijf Limburg, Zuyd Hogeschool, VERAS, Municipality of Brunssum, Municipality of Landgraaf, Stadsregio Parkstad Limburg, IBA Parkstad and Municipality of Kerkrade. SUPERLOCAL is a key project of IBA. The collaboration within SUPERLOCAL gave the area a solid boost in terms of economy, space and society. As icing on the cake, SUPERLOCAL won "The Innovation in Politics Awards" in the ecology category in 2020.
In the SUPERLOCAL project in Bleijerheide, as many materials as possible from former high-rise flats are being used for the construction of new housing and public space. There will be 130 new affordable rental homes, a common space for residents and neighbors, and a water cycle that collects and purifies rainwater. SUPERLOCAL is a circular building project dedicated to sustainability and resident participation. Twelve parties are working together: municipality of Kerkrade, HEEMwonen, WBL, WML, Veras, municipality of Brunssum, municipality of Landgraaf, Zuyd Hogeschool, Bouwbedrijven Jongen, Dusseldorp demolition and infra and the city region of Parkstad Limburg.
