Temporary European driving license validity scheme extended

Due to the measures around corona, it is not always possible for residents to renew their driving license on time. The European Commission had already decided that expired EU driving licenses would temporarily be valid longer. This arrangement has now been extended.

If a driver's license expired between Feb. 1, 2020, and Nov. 30, 2020, you may continue driving with the expired license for another 9 months. This period starts from the day the driver's license expired.

If you do want to renew your driver's license, this remains possible. In that case, call 14045 to make an appointment. You may continue to drive for longer on the basis of the goodwill arrangement. This is not mandatory.
