Temporary shelter for Ukrainian refugees at Hammolenweg location

There will be a temporary shelter for Ukrainian refugees on Hammolen Road. The shelter will open a little later than previously announced.

From Jan. 8, 2024, the shelter will be put into operation in phases for up to 2 years. There will be a total of 72 housing units on site to accommodate a total of 200 refugees.

Start of work

On Monday, November 20, we will begin initial site preparations. After that, ground work will follow, part of the site will be raised and adjustments will be made for the housing units. In early January, the housing units will then be placed and the first refugees will be expected. This schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, for example.

Safety, traffic and appearance

We held an information meeting for local residents. During this meeting, questions were raised about safety, the traffic situation in the neighborhood and the appearance of the site. We take this very seriously. We are therefore paying extra attention to the recommended routes for transport, supervision of the site and any visitors, and the appearance of the temporary buildings. Of course, we continuously ensure the safety of all local residents.
