How is the municipality of Kerkrade working on accessibility?
We work on accessibility by:
Training of web editors
Our Web editors will receive adequate training on applying accessibility requirements. New editors will also take the training. They have learned how to use the Web site properly for everyone.
Resolving errors found
Together with the website builder, we fix the errors found. Through periodic consultations with the municipal editors of the website, this is ensured. This intended permanent process was preceded by an intensive start-up project with the web builder.
Reduce pdf documents on the website
Pdf documents are difficult to use when they are not created properly. We want important pdf documents to be easy for everyone to use. Initially we will make the 25 most downloaded pdf documents accessible. Each month we will continue to review a number of pdf documents. Old documents will be removed. If necessary, we will modify a pdf document.
Do you find a pdf document that is not good to use? Please report this to us. You can do this by phone at 14045, by email gemeentehuis@kerkrade.nl or directly at the City Office desk.
Research with residents
Annually, together with our website supplier, we conduct a user test with residents with disabilities. Any bottlenecks are addressed - depending on the cause - either by our website supplier or by us.
Links to websites of institutions and organizations
The municipality of Kerkrade's website includes external links to websites of institutions and organizations that are directly related to the subjects of the pages on this site. The Municipality of Kerkrade will contact these parties to ensure that all such websites will comply with accessibility requirements.
Securing accessibility
To encourage and ensure compliance with accessibility requirements, our web editors will review all new content for accessibility before publication.
What is not yet in order?
The municipality of Kerkrade is busy making its own website accessible. This website of the municipality of Kerkrade uses an appointment module and a civil affairs module. The municipality of Kerkrade depends on the relevant suppliers to "accessibility-proof" these modules.
In 2021, the current appointment scheduler will be replaced. Together with this new supplier, we will ensure that this module also meets accessibility requirements. With regard to the civil affairs module, active consultation is currently taking place with the relevant supplier.
