TONK scheme extended

The government has extended the TONK scheme until Oct. 1, 2021. The TONK scheme was created during the corona crisis as a temporary support in necessary expenses for people with little income. TONK stands for Temporary Support for Necessary Expenses.

Because Corona is still not completely gone, the TONK scheme will be extended until Oct. 1, 2021. The TONK benefit is a form of special assistance. It is regulated by the Participation Act. More information about the scheme and questions and answers can be found at: www.kerkrade.nl/tonk-regeling.

The TONK scheme concerns an allowance from the municipality for people who have (too) little income as a result of the corona measures and have problems paying their housing costs as a result. These include the rent or mortgage, the costs of electricity, gas and water, service charges and municipal taxes, for example.
