Tower Street closed from Nov. 7 to 18 due to installation of tunnel under tracks
The Torenstraat in Eygelshoven will be closed to traffic from Monday, November 7 through Friday, November 18. Traffic will be diverted with signs.
Tower Street will close as ProRail and Strukton then continue work on closing the unsecured level crossing. The level crossing has already been removed and the path to the crossing has been closed. Now Strukton is going to build a tunnel in the place of the crossing. This will be a pedestrian tunnel to the hiking area in the Schouffertsbos.
Construction of the tunnel will take until Nov. 18. Once the tunnel is in place, it must be finished. This will take until the end of December 2022. After this, pedestrians will be able to use the new tunnel.
Update Dec. 30, 2022: ProRail estimates that pedestrians will be able to use the tunnel starting in late January 2023.
Until the end of December, you cannot cross the tracks at Tower Street
Until then, it is best to use the underpass at Waubacherweg near Eygelshoven Markt station.
Traffic detour from Nov. 7 to 18
Traffic from the Hopel interchange can detour via Roderlandbaan-St.Pieterstraat-Eygelshovergracht-Kerkraderstraat-Veldhofstraat.
Bike path Tower Street closed (at times) between Nov. 18 and the end of December
We do this so that further completion of the tunnel can be done safely. Cyclists can then detour via Laura Street-Specht Street-Kanarie Street.
