Two new corona test sites in southern Limburg

During September, GGD Zuid Limburg will open two new locations where people can get tested for corona infection. One new location will be in Maastricht and one in Landgraaf.

In this way, the GGD wants to reduce the travel distance for residents of the South Limburg region, expand the testing possibilities and lower the threshold for a corona test. The number of GGD testing locations throughout the Netherlands has increased to more than 80. For residents of South Limburg, the testing locations in Urmond and (temporarily) Maastricht-MECC are currently available. Two locations are now being added.

New test site Maastricht

In consultation with the Municipality of Maastricht, the GGD has chosen a parking lot on the Demertdwarsstraat in Maastricht as its location. This location is easily accessible locally and regionally because it is right next to the A2 motorway. An additional advantage is the proximity to the Maastricht University Medical Center+, which evaluates the tests taken.

Location Landgraaf

In Landgraaf, the new test site will be at the Megaland site. Here, too, there is ample space and good accessibility due to its central location in Parkstad.

Both new test sites will remain open for at least six months, but probably longer. Here -as in Urmond- the occupants of four cars can be tested simultaneously with a maximum of 128 cars per hour. Those coming on foot or by bicycle can also come here. A separate area is provided for testing children. For staff, the new test lanes will be completely winter-proofed.

The test lanes are open seven days a week. The duration of opening depends on the number of appointments and is kept to a minimum during evening hours. The route to the test sites will be clearly marked.
