Report traffic unsafe situation

What is it?

You may notice an unsafe traffic situation. For example, a dangerous intersection or an unclear crossing. Or you think your street or neighborhood should become a 30 km/h area.

What to do.

You report to the municipality that you feel a particular traffic situation is not safe. You can do this by sending an email to gemeentehuis@kerkrade.nl, please include the following information:

  • precise location
  • reason for your report

You may think the municipality should designate your street or neighborhood as a 30 km/h area. If so, apply for this together with your neighbors.

How long does it take?

Upon receipt, your complaint/suggestion will be handled by a specially formed Traffic Working Group. In this official working group, besides the chairman, secretary, lawyer and technician (all officials), the police and fire department are also represented. This is to obtain as broad a view as possible. The Traffic Working Group meets once every five weeks and gives advice on whether or not to take traffic measures (whether or not combined with traffic orders). Should an official traffic decision be made, it will be published via Notices.

Additional information

To increase traffic safety within built-up areas, there are 30 km/h areas. Speed bumps, narrowing and narrow lanes are intended to slow down traffic. These are mainly residential areas, shopping streets, schools and other places where there are many pedestrians, cyclists and playing children.
