Election of members of the House of Representatives of the States General

PROXY VOTING

The Mayor of Kerkrade announces that in the upcoming election of the members of the House of Representatives of the States General on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, a voter is permitted to vote by proxy.

In doing so, the following provisions apply:

A. AUTHORIZATION by written request FORM OF VOLUNTEER.

  1. Forms for petitions to vote by proxy are available free of charge from Administrative Services, Civic Square Department of the Municipality.
  2. The petition must be filed by the voter no later than Friday, March 12, 2021, with the mayor of the municipality where he/she was registered as a voter on Monday, February 1, 2021.
  3. The petition cannot be filed by the voter who has already been issued a voter ID card or by the voter who is allowed to vote by mail.
  4. The person who has agreed to act as a proxy must be registered as a voter on Monday, February 1, 2021.
  5. If the request is granted, the authorized representative will receive a proxy certificate.
  6. A proxy is not authorized to revoke the proxy or participate in the vote itself.

B. AUTHORIZATION by transfer of the VOTE PAS or VOTER PAS.

  1. The voter may authorize another voter registered as a voter in the same municipality to vote for him/her.
  2. For this purpose, the voter signs the form appearing on the voting card or voter's card and has the Map countersigned by the authorized representative.
  3. The voter transfers the voting card or voter ID card, thus converted into a proxy card, to the proxy.
  4. Also, the voter must provide a copy of a valid ID to the proxy. The proxy must show this copy to the chairperson of the polling station.
  5. The transfer, of the voting card or voter's card converted into a proxy, can be done up to and including the day of voting.
  6. A proxy granted by transfer of the voting card or voter's card may, until the proxy has cast a vote, be revoked by the proxy.

A voter may not accept more than 3 (three) proxies. The proxy vote must be cast at the same time as one's own vote.
