Welfare on Recipe

Since November 2020, the municipality of Kerkrade has been working together with Health Center Terwinselen, Medical Center Kruisstraat, Medical Center West Kerkrade and welfare organization Impuls on the "Welfare on Prescription" pilot.

This means that general practitioners can refer residents with complaints such as loneliness or somberness to a well-being coach from Impuls. The welfare coach then works with the resident to find activities that match the resident's interests and abilities. Examples of activities include walking, sports, gardening, cooking, eating together, singing, dancing, gardening, reading clubs and computer classes.

"Meeting new people and picking up (new or old) hobbies contributes to people's well-being. Sometimes it is difficult to do this alone. The well-being coach helps with this!" said Alderman Jongen.

The pilot will run until November 2021. If it proves a success, more GP practices will be approached to participate in "Wellness on Prescription.
