Alderman Tim Weijers becomes director of Healthy in My Region Foundation
Alderman Tim Weijers (40, Civic Interests) will take office as director of the Healthy in My Area Foundation effective 1.12.2024.

As portfolio holder in the municipality of Kerkrade, Alderman Tim Weijers is responsible, among other things, for the housing offensive with area developments such as Rolduckerveld and Superlocal Bleijerheide, which won the municipality the European Innovations in Politics Award; for Beleef Kerkrade, which recently won 2nd place in the National City Marketing Trophy; and for the Tower of Gaia, Nieuw Ehrenstein and Flexiforum. In the region, he chairs the Housing and Restructuring Executive Committee.
Tim Weijers has been Alderman for nearly 14 years, including more than 10 years as deputy mayor. As the list leader of Civic Interests, he grew this party to 11 seats on the City Council. He is now taking on a new challenge.
Alderman Weijers: "It was a privilege for me to dedicate myself with heart and soul as Alderman and party leader for many years to Kerkrade and its residents. My new challenge fits in seamlessly with that. As director of the Healthy in My Region Foundation, I am committed with passion and enthusiasm to improving the health of the residents of Kerkrade and our region. I am convinced that through good cooperation and good connections we can really make a difference. Now and in the future. I look back on my period as administrator of this town with great gratitude and thank everyone for the collegiality experienced."
Mayor Petra Dassen-Housen: "We are going to miss Alderman Weijers tremendously. His decisiveness has made many projects and initiatives a success. We are very grateful to him for that. His heart beats for this community. Problems to him are challenges, obstacles opportunities. It is wonderful to see such an administrator acting in your city for many years. Collegial, driven, with focus. He has also made his mark in the administrative-political climate. That is only possible with an inexhaustible commitment. And that is what Tim Weijers has done all these years. This new challenge is warmly welcomed and we are pleased that he will continue to use his talent and drive for the welfare of our residents and those of our region."
The succession of Alderman Weijers is in the hands of Citizen's Interests. Alderman Weijers will take political leave during the upcoming budget meeting on Nov. 13. It is expected that his successor will take office as soon as possible thereafter. Of course, there will be a time when residents, associations, partners and businesses can thank Alderman Weijers for his efforts and congratulate him on this new challenge.
