Workshop for family businesses: 'How to get your business ready for a transfer or sale?'
About 30 percent of family businesses in Kerkrade will face the choice of transferring the business to the next generation or selling it in the next few years.
Gemeente Kerkrade is organizing in conjunction with MKB-Limburg the Workshop "My business in the shop window! The aim is to prepare entrepreneurs as well as possible for the transfer or sale of their business. In 3 workshops of 4 hours various topics about the transfer and sale will be discussed. Entrepreneurs can participate free of charge. Only a limited number of spots are available.

Workshop content
Workshop 1: Transfer or sale
Transferring or selling a family business is a big step that involves a lot. It is about money but also about emotions and family interests. During the first meeting the options are discussed and weighed in order to formulate an exit or transfer strategy.
Workshop 2: My business in the shop window
What is the sale value of the business if the owner steps out? How do you calculate the sale value? What are the terms of sale? How does an MBO, transfer or sale process work? During the second session, we zoom in on the negotiation game.
Workshop 3: Estate planning
After the transfer or sale is officially completed, a lot changes for the former owner(s) and their family. What are the financial and tax consequences? Wealth, a life without a business and the estate, issues that will be addressed during the third session.
Participating companies will receive a syllabus with information for each workshop and the book "Controversy in the Family Business" about the transference perils within a family business.
