Registration for the 2026 Dutch Tile Flipping Championships is now open!

From December 15, 2025, through January 31, 2026, you can once again register for the planting days in the spring of the NK Tegelwippen (National Tile Flipping Championship). After last year's enthusiasm and great effort, the Municipality of Kerkrade will once again be participating with full energy in 2026!

We are going to remove as many tiles as possible from our city and replace them with greenery. By replacing tiles in your front or facade garden with a free plant package, you are helping to create a healthy, green, and future-proof living environment.

A green city has many advantages: it looks nicer, offers space to relax and meet each other, and helps combat heat stress and flooding.

Alderman Drunen (Sustainability): “Last year's participation shows that many residents are committed to a greener Kerkrade. I am very proud of that. This year, we hope to work with you to replace thousands of tiles with fresh, vibrant greenery.

Alderman (Public Space) adds: “It's wonderful to see how many residents are eager to get involved right away. Their enthusiasm is contagious: you can really see that the whole of Kerkrade is pulling together to make our neighborhoods greener and more livable.”

Planting days spring 2026

There are three planting days in the spring. All days are on Saturday mornings between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. 

  • Kerkrade West – March 21
  • Kerkrade North – March 28
  • Kerkrade East – April 11

Planting days in fall 2026

In addition, residents can already register for the planting days in the fall. The registration period for the fall is open from December 15, 2025, to July 1, 2026. 

There are also three planting days in the fall. All days are on Saturday mornings between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. 

  • Kerkrade East – September 19
  • Kerkrade North – September 26
  • Kerkrade West – October 3
