BOOST: Together for Kerkrade East

We want everyone in Kerkrade East to be proud of their neighborhood. A place where you enjoy living and feel at home. That's why we're giving Kerkrade East a solid BOOST! Together with residents and organizations, we are working on a pleasant, safe and healthy neighborhood for young and old. This way we make the neighborhood stronger and ensure that people meet each other more.

Projects in the neighborhood

Many projects have already been started in Kerkrade East in recent years. In Bleijerheide-Nulland, a group of residents is thinking about plans for the future of the neighborhood. In Rolduckerveld, old buildings are being demolished, new houses are being built and the area is being made more beautiful. These projects make the neighborhood more livable and pleasant. They give a (B)OST to Kerkrade East! 

Working together for a livable neighborhood

HEEMwonen, Wonen-Zuid, Municipality of Kerkrade, Impuls and MeanderGroep want to improve living in Kerkrade East. They will invest in a pleasant, safe and healthy neighborhood in the coming years.

In the fall of 2023, together with residents, business owners and organizations, they created a plan of ideas and wishes. The Ambition Plan Kerkrade East. 

It showed that many good things are already happening in the neighborhood. Think fun actions by residents and projects for the neighborhood.

To do even more good and make the neighborhood stronger and safer, a new plan has been created for the entire neighborhood. This is called (B)EAST.

The organizations will work together with residents and other partners. They want to make the neighborhoods in Kerkrade East livelier, with opportunities for everyone. In this way, they are helping to achieve Stadsregio Parkstad's plan: to develop a healthy region where it is good to live, work and play.

Kerkrade East is getting a (B)OOST!

Because Province of Limburg has designated Kerkrade East as a "focus district," we can now better coordinate the 150 planned and ongoing projects of various partners. These include plans for housing and new homes, Health, safety, education, community centers, youth centers and literacy assistance. 

The various organizations are now working out all those plans in a cooperation document. This also contains the agreements they will make with each other about the projects in Kerkrade East. They will sign the agreement in the fall of 2025. 

Once this is done, a special working group will get to work on implementing all the plans. 

The goal of (B)OOST is to make Kerkrade East a neighborhood where:

  • it is clean, whole and safe;
  • people can make their own choices;
  • residents help each other and come up with activities for the neighborhood together;
  • everyone lives healthily;
  • it is good living.
