The “Enjoy the Sun, But Don’t Get Burned!” campaign has kicked off. Is your business participating?

UV radiation from the sun is the leading cause of skin cancer. You’re still at risk even on cloudy days. Prevention is better than cure, and fortunately, you can protect yourself and your children effectively. The regional prevention campaign “Enjoy the sun, but don’t get burned!” focuses on three simple steps: avoid, cover up, and apply sunscreen.

Why this campaign?

This prevention campaign focuses on teaching healthy sun protection habits at an early age to prevent skin cancer later in life, under the motto:

  1. Weren – Seek shade between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  2. Clothing - Wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and a hat
  3. Apply – Use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, reapplying every 2 hours

Attention, business owners!

Together, we’re building a sun-safe future

The 16 municipalities in South Limburg and the Maastricht UMC+ Healthcare Innovation Lab are collaborating to help residents enjoy the sun safely. We are doing this because the number of skin cancer cases continues to rise. Proper protection can prevent many problems. With this campaign, we aim to raise awareness among residents about the risks and what they can do to protect themselves.
