Join us in thinking about rules for dogs in Kerkrade

Municipality of Kerkrade is reviewing whether the rules for dogs still match what residents think. You can help us with this by completing our questionnaire.

About 5000 dogs live in Kerkrade. We want these dogs, their owners and people without dogs to be able to live together in a pleasant way. That's why we have a dog policy in Kerkrade. In the dog policy, the municipality describes what rules there are for dogs. For example, where dogs are allowed to run loose. And in which places they must be kept on a leash.

The rules we have now are from long ago

The rules we have now have been around since 1997. That's why the council is going to see if the rules are still a good fit with what residents think now. Or whether we might need to change some of the rules in the dog policy. That's why we created a questionnaire.

We have some questions for people with and without dogs

By filling out our questionnaire, you can tell us what you think about the rules for dogs. Participation is anonymous. So you do not have to enter your name.

"We hope a lot of people fill out the questionnaire," said Alderman Alexander Geers (Public Space), "because we think it's very important to know what residents think of the dog policy as it is now. You don't have to have a dog to answer the questions. We would also like to hear what people without a dog think of the rules. And do you have your own good ideas for other rules? Then you can write these down as well."

You can find the questionnaire in several places

Update April 11: You can no longer complete the questionnaire.

Our online questionnaire allows you to fill out the list on your computer and send it in. You can also download it and print it out. You can then fill it out on paper and send it to the municipality. The address is on the questionnaire.

We use the answers to create a new dog policy

After April 8, we will first review all the responses to the questionnaire. Then we will get to work on the new dog policy. As soon as there is news about the dog policy, we will post it on the website and in the City News.
