Starting this week, you can receive digital mail from Werk & Inkomen via the BerichtenBox

Starting this week, you can choose how you’d like to receive mail from Werk & Inkomen: digitally via the BerichtenBox at MijnOverheid , on paper as you do now, or both. We’re sending you this message to let you know about this new option.

What is the Message Box?

The BerichtenBox is your personal digital mailbox from the government. Here, you’ll receive official messages from municipalities, the Tax and Customs Administration, the UWV, and other agencies. You can log in securely using your DigiD. The BerichtenBox stores your mail in one place, so you can always find it.

What does this mean to you?

Starting this week, you can receive letters from Werk & Inkomen electronically. This is faster, more secure, and easier to keep track of.

Would you prefer to receive your mail on paper rather than digitally? If so, you don't need to do anything. You'll continue to receive your mail on paper.

Please note: Registered letters are not sent via the BerichtenBox. You will always receive them in paper form.

What can you do right now?

Would you like to receive your mail electronically? If so, you can get started by following these steps:

  1. Go to www.mijnoverheid.nl
  2. Log in with your DigiD
  3. Open the Message Box and go to Settings
  4. Click on “Municipalities” under “Organizations in BerichtenBox”
  5. Check the box next to “Municipality of Kerkrade” and click “Save.”

From that point on, the municipality can send you digital mail.

Some letters cannot yet be sent electronically. For the time being, you will continue to receive these letters by mail. Examples include:

  • The monthly benefit statements;
  • Customer Information Letters;
  • Annual statements.
