Kerkrade Energy and Climate Fund great success: additional budget to come

Thanks to the extra budget, the municipality can help more residents, entrepreneurs and associations with a loan from the fund. They can then use this borrowed money to make their homes or buildings more sustainable.

Already 130 applications since September

Since September 15, 2022, it has been possible to apply for a loan from the Energy and Climate Fund Kerkrade. Currently, 130 people have already done so. Many people use the money for solar panels and insulation. 

Extra money will be added to help more people

Because of all these applications, the loan pot of 2 million euros was already almost empty. However, there was still money in the loan pot of the Solar Panel Project Parkstad. This project has been stopped since Nov. 24. Therefore, the city council decided to use the money from that pot for the Kerkrade Energy and Climate Fund.
This means that there will now be over 1 million euros in additional budget. Residents, entrepreneurs and associations can therefore still apply for a loan.

Applying for a loan from the Kerkrade Energy and Climate Fund

You can borrow an amount between €1,000 and €35,000 from the municipality to make your home or building more sustainable. For loans coming from the extra loan pot, the interest rate is 1.5%. The loan has a term of 15 years. In addition, you pay an administration fee.
