Femke went from working at the Thrift Store to getting a job
As part of her development program, Femke started at the Ruilwinkel, one of the workplaces run by the Flexiforum Development Center. This work experience placement served as a stepping stone to a job with the municipality as a front-desk clerk. Femke has since moved on to a new job.
Femke started a work experience placement at the Ruilwinkel, which didn’t quite align with her education or career preferences. Still, she was very enthusiastic from the start. Soon after, word spread within the organization that a position was available at the front desk of the Eurode Business Center (EBC). By quickly coordinating with all the relevant colleagues at the municipality, Femke was able to secure an interview and was hired.

"In a short time, Femke has become a valued colleague on our team. From the very beginning, she has shown that she is motivated, eager to learn, and dedicated," says department head Wendy Franssen. "With her customer-friendly attitude, sense of responsibility, and dedication, she makes an important contribution to the services provided by the Eurode Business Center. Femke is also always willing to take on extra tasks.”
Femke is now working part-time at the front desk. There, she is expanding her responsibilities and gaining valuable work experience. Femke looks back positively on her journey: “I found the entire process and the job application to be very smooth. It’s great that everyone is working with me to find a position that really suits me. From day one, I’ve had a great rapport with my coworkers, and I’m very enthusiastic about my work.”
Femke’s story illustrates what effective collaboration within the municipality can achieve. Thanks to the joint efforts of various departments, opportunities were identified in a timely manner, a tailored solution was provided, and Femke was given this valuable opportunity. The Human Resources department played an important supporting role in this process.
In the meantime, Femke’s contract has been extended. Together with her, we explored the next step that would best align with her knowledge, skills, and ambitions. We found that opportunity in a training and work placement at the “ Health ” and Safety Center. Femke will also continue to work at the EBC.
