What is a handicapped parking permit?
A disabled parking permit allows you to park in disabled parking spaces in all EU countries, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. However, you must follow local parking rules.
There are 3 types of Maps.
Driver's card
- You cannot walk more than 100 meters independently for at least six months. Not even with aids, such as a cane or crutches.
- You can drive your own car.
Passenger card
- You cannot walk more than 100 meters independently for at least six months. Not even with aids, such as a cane or crutches.
- You cannot drive a car by yourself. You constantly need the help of a driver.
You can also apply for a combination of a driver card and a passenger card. For example, if you are permanently confined to a wheelchair.
Settings Card
The board of an institution where people with disabilities reside may apply for a disabled parking permit for the transportation of residents.
How does it work?
- The parking ticket is in a person's name.
- The parking map is not by license plate number. You can use the Map for any car.
- The parking pass is valid for up to 5 years.
What to do.
- You apply for the disabled parking permit at the municipality.
- A medical authority examines your physical disability. The municipality determines which authority does this.

Do you already have a disabled parking permit and want to renew it? Then you should also apply for this at the municipality.
Handicapped parking permit renewal
In the digital form, we ask for a recent passport photo that meets the passport photo requirements. You must submit this to us at the central desk of the City Office after sending the digital form. This can be done without an appointment.
- Write your name and date of birth on the back of the passport photo. So we can see which application it belongs to.
- Put the passport photo in an envelope. And write "Wmo GPK" on the envelope.
Request by phone
Are you unable to fill out the form digitally? Then you can request the application form by phone at 14 045. Please indicate whether it is a first application or an extension.
You can fill out the form and hand it in at the Civic Square of the City Office. You must make an appointment for this by phone. You pay at the time of application. This is done at the counter in the City Office. Payment by PIN is our preference.
What do I need?
- Your valid proof of identity
- A recent passport photo that meets the passport photo requirements
- Evidence of medical examination
How long does it take?
The municipality will make a decision within 8 weeks of receiving your application. This period may be extended once.
What does it cost?
There are costs associated with the application for a disabled parking permit, such as a mandatory medical opinion for an initial application and further provision of the Map. These costs are charged to the applicant for the disabled parking permit.
Fees will be charged even if your application is rejected.
Applying for a driver card or passenger card costs €97.95 (rate 2024).
The application for renewal of a driver or passenger card costs €37.05 (rate 2024).
