Noise maps
On Jan. 24, 2023, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen adopted the 2021 EU Maps Maps. These Maps show how much noise there is in a place. They include noise from road traffic, trains and industry. The Maps show how much noise there is on a building. For example, houses, schools, hospitals and nursing homes.
The Maps are there to inform residents
People living in a city are bound to encounter noise from road traffic, trains or industry. The Maps inform residents about the amount of noise at different places in the city. This is done in exactly the same way for all countries in the European Union. This is because it is mandatory.
Different colors indicate how much noise there is in a certain area, or on a certain building. The Map shows how much noise there is on average throughout the day. The Map shows how much noise there is at night.
Municipality uses Maps for action plan
The municipality uses the data on the noise maps to create an action plan.
This will be ready in the course of 2024. The plan will state what measures the municipality wants to take against noise from road traffic in particular. And the effect the municipality expects these measures to have.
