Noise maps

Kerkrade municipality is in the process of making a plan against noise pollution. The plan will state what measures the municipality intends to take and what effect they will have. 

To make this plan, the municipality uses noise maps. On these Maps , you can see how much noise is in a particular place. It includes noise from cars, trains and businesses. It also shows how much noise is on a building, such as a house, school or hospital. All European Union countries must make these Maps in the same way. The most up-to-date Maps for Kerkrade were made in 2021.

  1. Under "area selection," choose Municipality of Kerkrade
  2. Under 'scenario', choose EU_2021_Way_Cnossos or EU_2021_Rail_Cnossos
  3. Under 'noise pollution', check what you want to display
    1. Map: how much noise is averaged over the day.
    2. Map: how much noise there is at night

The colors on the Map show how much sound there is. 

You can't compare the 2021 Maps , due to a different method of calculation, with the 2016 and 2011 Maps , unfortunately.
