The Municipality of Kerkrade and MeanderGroep Take the Next Step in the Development of Lückerheide
The Municipality of Kerkrade and MeanderGroep Zuid-Limburg have signed a purchase and development agreement for the redevelopment of Lückerheide. By selling a parcel of land, the municipality is supporting the plans for a future-proof residential and care facility.
The renovation of Lückerheide provides an opportunity to further tailor the residential and care environment to the needs of the residents, both now and in the future. That is why Meander is working on a phased renovation of the site. The existing buildings will be replaced step by step, so that the “ Health ” can continue as much as possible during the construction work.
The new Lückerheide will have an open feel. The focus is on residents’ comfort and well-being.

Landscaping
A key part of the plans is the construction of new parking spaces for staff and visitors. These will be located between the current Lückerheide and the new roundabout on St. Pieterstraat. The municipality has sold a parcel of land to Meander for this purpose.
Health will continue as much as possible
Almost all of the healthcare services currently offered at Lückerheide will be available in the new facility. Only Hospice De Vlinderhof Kerkrade has since moved to Meander’s Hoog Anstel location.
The work will be carried out in phases. This means that not everything needs to be demolished and rebuilt at the same time. As a result, the Health will remain accessible, and every effort will be made to minimize disruption to residents and nearby residents as much as possible.
How does it continue?
On June 2, the municipality will adopt the new environmental plan for the site. Meander will then further develop the application for the environmental permit and submit it.
The redevelopment will take place in phases and will take several years to complete. According to the current schedule, the first phase will begin in late 2026 with the demolition of several buildings and the construction of new residential facilities.
The site will remain accessible to residents and visitors at all times during the work. Local residents and other stakeholders will receive more information about the schedule and implementation at a later date.
