Van Gogh Square redevelopment

The municipality will redevelop Vincent van Gogh Square. This is being done as part of the housing offensive, which focuses on building good housing. These homes must contribute to a pleasant living environment. This is the starting point for the plans that will be implemented in the coming years.

Why is Vincent van Gogh Square being redeveloped?

Research shows that Vincent van Gogh Square is a suitable site for new construction. The old school building is no longer used as a school and renovation is needed. The Board of B&W has decided to make preparations for the construction of new housing at this location.

Current users of the building

The old school building is currently used by various organizations, including the Gregor Brokamp Scouting Group, Sportfondsen Kerkrade, and the De Spiegel Foundation.

These users have since found a new location. The building on Vincent van Goghplein will remain in use until the Scouting group’s permanent move to the Berenbos.

New construction plans

Vincent van Gogh Square will be home to different types of housing, including social rental housing, mid-rent and affordable for-sale housing. Preparations for this redevelopment are underway.
