Redevelopment of Vincent van Gogh Square

The municipality of Kerkrade plans to demolish the former school building on Vincent van Goghplein in the Haanrade neighborhood. Once demolished, the site will be cleared for the construction of two apartment complexes. 

This redevelopment addresses the growing demand for high-quality housing and creates opportunities for residents to move up the housing ladder. The focus is on a mix of affordable rental units, mid-range rental units, and affordable owner-occupied homes.

This is your influence on the plans

Residents living directly on Frans Halsstraat, Meuserstraat, and Haanraderweg are invited to contribute their ideas and have a say in the plans. 

An open house was held for the neighborhood around Vincent van Goghplein. In addition, four meetings were organized for residents living directly on Frans Halsstraat, Meuserstraat, and Haanraderweg.

We do this with the results of the interviews

Together with these residents, the architect, the housing association HEEMwonen, and the municipality of Kerkrade, we examined the location, size, and number of stories of the apartments. Residents were also invited to share their ideas regarding the design of the public space. The current design was developed thanks to the input of local residents.

Once the plans have been further developed, the municipality will once again organize a public information session for the neighborhood around Vincent van Goghplein.

    Once the plans have been further developed, another open house will be organized for the neighborhood surrounding Vincent van Goghplein.
