Dog Policy Municipality of Kerkrade

Inset exhaust routes and off-leash areas

Fenced off-leash areas

Of course, your dog has the need to run and play freely from time to time. Because not every dog owner has access to a yard, the municipality has created twenty fenced off-leash areas. In these fenced off-leash areas there is no leash requirement and your dog can also do his business without you having to clean up the droppings. These areas are cleaned regularly on behalf of the municipality. The locations of the off-leash areas are indicated in the overviews of dog facilities. You can download these at the bottom of this page.

Outlet routes

Practice shows that grass verges and the like are often used as dog walking areas. Special exercise routes allow your dog to be leashed next to the path and do not require you to clean up excrement. The locations of these walking routes are indicated in the overviews of dog facilities. You can download them at the bottom of this page.

Walkout areas

Walkout areas are large areas that are not fenced but are marked with posts. At the entrance to the areas, the boundaries are indicated by signs. The municipality of Kerkrade currently has four such areas. Here, too, you do not have to keep your dog on a leash and there is no obligation to clean up dog poop. However, we do ask that you pay attention to the other flora and fauna present in these areas. The locations of these walking areas are also indicated in the overviews of dog facilities. You can download these at the bottom of this page.

In all other places in the city, that is, outside these areas and routes, you must of course leash your dog and clean up the poop.
