Keep summer fun with heat plan
Our climate is changing and more and more hot days are coming. During the summer it can get very hot. We can face extreme and persistent heat. To make sure everyone can cope well with the heat, a local heat plan has been established in Kerkrade.
The heat plan is there to inform residents, institutions, health care providers and volunteers in time about extreme heat. In this way, everyone can take measures to prevent and limit health problems caused by heat. Many people enjoy the warm weather, but for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and young children, the persistent heat can lead to health problems. During hot periods, it is important to take extra care and help each other. In this way, everyone in Kerkrade can enjoy the summer to the fullest.
Cooperation with various partners
The municipality is working together with GGD Zuid Limburg, the Red Cross district of South Limburg and other partners from Health, welfare and volunteer work in Kerkrade to protect people from the effects of heat. Together, this is how we keep our heads cool and summer fun!
Three phases of the heat plan
The heat plan has three phases: the preparation phase, pre-warning phase and warning phase. Which phase is in effect depends on the weather. In the warning phase (phase 3), the National Heat Plan also becomes active.
