Individual income supplement (IIT).

What is it?

The individual income supplement (IIT) is for people who have a low income for a long period of time. You get this benefit if you have no prospect of improving your income.

Each year, the municipality redetermines the amount of the individual income supplement using the official consumer price index from the CBS. 

The (net) amounts in 2026 are: 

  • For a single person:€475.00
  • For a single parent:€547.00
  • For a family:€670.00

These amounts have been rounded up to the nearest whole euro.

Disbursement

The municipality determines the amount of the individual income supplement and pays the supplement once a year. You can spend the supplement freely.

How does it work?

You qualify for the individual income supplement if you meet the following Requirements:

  • You are between the age of 21 and retirement age.
  • You have low income for a long time. The municipality determines what is "long-term low.
  • Your assets do not exceed the applicable welfare standard.
  • You have no prospect of income improvement.
  • You have not received an individual income supplement in the past 12 months.

The municipality may still set additional Requirements .

What to do.

You apply for the individual income supplement at the municipality.

You can download the application form Individual Income Supplement and the information form Individual Income Supplement, fill it out and drop it off at or send it to the municipality.

Please note: If you receive Social assistance benefit benefit from the municipality you only need to fill out the application form. If you receive an income benefit from the UWV or from employment, you will need to complete the information form in addition to the application form.

Social assistance benefits are based on a minimum wage set specifically for social security purposes. More information about the amounts can be found on the Rijksoverheid’s website.
