Surveying conversions, new construction and the like

What is it?

If you build, remodel or change a house, barn, commercial building or any kind of structure, the municipality is required by law to record these changed data in so-called basic records.

These are the municipal Basic Registration of Addresses and Buildings (BAG) and the Basic Registration of Large Scale Topography (BGT).

It does not matter here whether it is a (re)construction for which you need a permit or not.

How does it work?

The BAG is a register of data on buildings and addresses. The BGT is a detailed Map on which buildings, roads, water and greenery are recorded. Municipal address data and Maps must be kept current.

How and when this changed data is recorded is regulated by the legislature. This allows all municipalities to register in the same way and have the data recorded in a national facility. Citizens and companies have access to (part of) this data, for example through Public Services On the Map

One of the regulations is that the municipality must draw up the new situation in Maps with national coverage. The surveying and mapping is done for our municipality by our own surveyor or by Het Gegevenshuis, where all knowledge and equipment is pooled. Het Gegevenshuis is a collaboration of ten municipalities in the region and the Limburg Water Board.

The municipal surveyor or the surveyors of Het Gegevenshuis may need to take measurements on or from your plot in order to carry out the legal duties of our municipality. We ask for your cooperation by allowing the surveyors as much free access to your property as possible. Of course, these surveyors can always identify themselves.
