Kerkrade has started greening business parks

Municipality of Kerkrade has started greening the town's business parks. "Greening the town and business parks will make these areas more livable and attractive. This has a positive impact on our residents and entrepreneurs, said Alderman Geers (economics).

The municipality chooses to start with the measures that produce the most results. One example is the redevelopment of parking lot P5 near the Leisuredome on the Rodaboulevard. This area will be made greener and more heat-resistant because parking pressure will increase in the future due to the arrival of a hotel. Work is expected to begin in early 2026.

Sustainable redevelopment

Much work has also been done in recent years on sustainable redevelopment of business parks. Old buildings were demolished and replaced by new, sustainable premises. Much attention has been paid to greening and adapting the environment. A total of 40 hectares of Kerkrade's business parks are being redeveloped.

Grant for green roofs and facades

In addition, the municipality has a new subsidy scheme for green roofs and facades. From 2025 to 2027, businesses and individuals can apply for subsidies to make their roofs and facades greener. Green roofs not only provide a more beautiful appearance, but also help store rainwater and improve air quality. For more information, visit kerkrade.nl/subsidies-for-green-roofs-and-facades
