Kerkrade Welcomes the Arrival of Limburg's First Mantel Superstore

Mantel, one of the largest bicycle retailers in the Netherlands, has chosen Roda Boulevard in Kerkrade as the location for its first superstore in South Limburg. The new store will cover an area of approximately 4,500 m² and will be built in the former garden center on Roda Boulevard. Mantel’s arrival is a welcome addition to Kerkrade’s sports and leisure offerings and aligns well with the development of Roda Boulevard as a supraregional attraction. Roda Boulevard has a strong Euregional presence and attracts approximately 7.5 million visitors annually.

The combination of sports, leisure, retail, and hospitality makes the area attractive to visitors from South Limburg as well as the neighboring regions in Belgium and Germany.
Mantel’s business model aligns perfectly with Roda Boulevard’s existing sports and leisure concept. With a spacious superstore of approximately 4,500 m², Mantel will have the opportunity to showcase its extensive selection of bicycles and sports equipment to a broad, Euregional audience. The new location will thus contribute to the area’s continued development and appeal.

With Mantel’s arrival, the sports offerings on Roda Boulevard will be further expanded. In addition, the new location is expected to create 50 jobs. Thus, Mantel’s arrival will not only strengthen the retail and sports offerings but also provide a significant boost to employment in Kerkrade and the region. The new store is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027.
