Child care, apply for municipal child care contribution

What is it?

Do your children attend child care? And do you have a minimum income and live in the municipality of Kerkrade? Then apply for a contribution from the municipality. The contribution depends on your income and situation.

How does it work?

The municipality will only contribute to the cost of childcare if you already receive a childcare allowance from the tax authorities. If you do not have a childcare allowance, you must first apply for one through the tax office's MijnToeslagen website (see Directly arrange)

If you do receive a child care allowance from the tax authorities, you can apply for a municipal contribution to the cost of child care if you :

  • are a parent with a Social assistance benefit through the Participation Act, or a benefit through the Ioaw, Ioaz or the General Surviving Relatives Act and are following a reintegration program of the municipality.
  • are a parent who works part-time and receives supplemental Social assistance benefit through the Participation Act, Ioaw, Ioaz or the General Survivors Act.
  • are a parent but receive Social assistance benefit benefits for living expenses as a school-age minor due to very special circumstances.

Through the childcare allowance from the tax office, you are entitled to 94 % of the cost of childcare. The municipal contribution is then the remainder up to 100 % of the costs.

What to do?

First, arrange childcare allowance with the Tax Office.

Do you receive childcare allowance from the tax authorities and do you meet the Requirements? Then apply for the municipal contribution to childcare costs through the website of the Municipality of Kerkrade or you can pick up the application form at the Activerium, Marktstraat 6 in Kerkrade.

How long does it take?

Within 8 weeks of the application, you will receive written notification from the municipality.
