A drawn tree containing the text: Life Tree Forest Kerkrade

A special moment deserves a special keepsake

In the Life Tree Forest Kerkrade, you can adopt a tree as a memento of a special event. For example as a father, mother or grandparents of a newborn child. Or if you recently married. But also, for example, as a reminder of someone who has passed away.
The Tree of Life offers a memory that lives on. A special memento that grows and blossoms anew every year. The Forest of Life Trees, the most beautiful place for a living memory!

The tree of life is a symbol of eternal life: sprouting in spring, lush growth in summer, fruit and decay in autumn and rest during winter. The circle is, year after year, complete. Without beginning and without end.

Tree adoption or gift

A memorial tree can be a very personal keepsake for yourself, but it is also a very original gift to give to someone. You will receive a certificate after adopting a tree that you can give to someone as a gift. This person can then plant the tree themselves during planting day. This way you also give the special experience of the planting day as a gift!

At this time, you cannot adopt trees.

Planting Day

People who have adopted a tree may plant it themselves. A tag with a personal message may be attached to the tree.

Warranty on the tree

Each adopted tree is subject to a replacement period of five years after its initial planting. This means that if the tree dies or is damaged within five years of its planting date, it will be replaced.

Sponsors

Companies, associations and organizations cannot adopt a tree, but can sponsor the Life Tree Forest. Do you want to sponsor? Please send an e-mail to mailto:gemeentehuis@kerkrade.nl stating 'Sponsoring Levensbomenbos Kerkrade'.

Planting a Life Tree Forest in Kerkrade was an idea of the City Council in 2017. More than 600 Kerkrade life trees have since been planted in the 3 life tree forests.

Life Tree Forest West

Life Tree Forest West is located on the plateau between Ham Street and Parallel Road, east of the Willem Sophia business park. The importance of tranquility is paramount in the Life Tree Forest. It is not a park with paths, benches and parking lots, but it looks like a combination between a Limburg fruit meadow and tree meadow. There are several life trees in the forest, both fruit and deciduous trees. The layout is extremely austere and it is accessible only by a semi-paved forest path. The individual trees have limited access due to the overgrowth. It thus fits within the ecological character of the nature reserve. A place to commemorate in peace.

Life tree forest and Life tree avenue Holzkuil

The Levensbomenbos and Levensbomenlaan Kerkrade Holzkuil are part of the area development Holzkuil and will be sustainably maintained. The Levensbomenbos is located on a former piece of pasture land, behind the grounds of garden center Peschen, near the Haanraderstraat. Levensbomenlaan serves as a connecting route between Eygelshovergracht and Tichelstraat.

The Life Tree Forest Holzkuil has the character of a tree meadow. Thus, there is no park with the associated amenities. There are Mountain Maples, Sweet Chestnut Trees, Wild Cherry Trees, Winter Limes and Fladder Elms. From a landscape point of view, there is one type of deciduous tree in the Avenue of Life Trees, namely the Wych Elm.

Life tree forest Carisborg

Life Tree Forest Carisborg can be found on the site of the old main field of Hockey Association Carisborg.

In the Carisborg Life Tree Forest, tranquility is very important. Like the other Levensbomenbossen, it is not a park with paths, benches and parking lots. The forest looks like a Limburg fruit meadow. At times, sheep also graze among the trees . This is good for nature.

A total of 80 trees have been planted in Life Tree Forest Carisborg.

There are two types of fruit trees in the forest:

  • Apple tree: the apple tree symbolizes love, attraction, fertility, fidelity and immortality.
  • Cherry tree: the cherry is a tree that needs care if you want to get a good harvest. The cherry thus symbolizes nurture.
