Mr. C.E.J. (Kees) van Veen was appointed Member in the Order of Orange-Nassau.

Since 2000, Mr. Van Veen has held the position of secretary at Fanfare Abdissenbosch. He manages the secretariat and the website of the association. He also goes every month one day a week to collect old paper in Landgraaf and walks door-to-door with the donor cards. Moreover, every year he is active as a traffic controller at the pop festival Pink Pop in Landgraaf.

In addition, Mr. Van Veen has been a volunteer with Amnesty International since December 2003. He had been a member of Amnesty International since 1986, but since December 2003 he has been collection coordinator in Landgraaf and Kerkrade.
In 2011, Mr. Van Veen founded the Amnesty working group Parkstad-Limburg. From June 2011 to November 2019, he served as contact person and chairman of this working group.
In addition, he has been serving as treasurer of the working group since its inception. Mr. Van Veen organizes many activities and initiatives such as actions at the Park City Life festival and writing actions in December on the 'Human Rights Day'. He has many contacts with other organizations and represents Amnesty Heerlen Mondiaal. He is very motivated and puts a lot of energy and time into his work for Amnesty. He wants everyone to know Amnesty and is passionately committed to fighting human rights violations.

Mr. Van Veen is also active as a volunteer tutor at Living Room Project The Residence. Here he gives computer lessons to seniors every Wednesday morning and every Thursday afternoon.
